Having a physical space where people can meet, learn, organise and communicate gave the campaign a focal point and created a large community of activists. There were more than 20 people staying at the camp at any one time and this meant that those who couldn’t stay or be there everyday could engage in the protest when they were able to. It became clear that the community needed the camp for the protest to succeed which could be seen through the many donations of food, water, clothing, medicine and skills.
